Organic Grounded Change: The Full Moon in Taurus

November begins with the stability seeking Full Moon in Taurus. Just days ago we experienced the emotional waters of a Pisces Moon while Samhain and Halloween were celebrated. The ultra spiritual and ethereal Pisces using the Moon as a medium coupled with the intimate and penetrative energies of a Scorpio Solar month enhanced the natural blurring between worlds that happens during this spooky period each year. During Samhain and Halloween (and similar traditions) it is said that the “veil between worlds is thin”, meaning the portals to the Underworld are easier to pass through. Many Witches made offerings to their Ancestors, held seances, made altars to honor the dead in general, in an effort to commune. And now we move through this week aware of this thinness, like we are walking through fog and hearing things, seeing signs, receiving messages.

As the Moon waxes into it’s Full lunation, the energy begins to buzz like the hum of nighttime creatures you finally took a moment to listen to. And the sensitive nature of the times continues.

In general the Moon likes moving through the sign of Taurus, which is a very sensual, earthy, secure archetype that is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and art. Taurus is the second “personal” sign of the zodiac and it is where we start to seek some stability after experiencing the intense and instinctive assertion of the self centered sign of Aries. Aries is like the birth of our fire, and then Taurus seeks to help us ground and maintain the flame with the proper essentials.

This is why Taurus is known as the sign that represents our basic needs, our sense of safety and security, money and material possessions or resources, and our self worth. Taurus is plodding and patient. Taurus is the reservation of energy for what is most worth it, most precious. Taurus is the sensuality of the human body we are becoming aware of. Those 5 senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, sound. Taurus helps us know what we need to stay embodied. What we most need on Earth to feel stable, to feel self assured, to feel safe.

Taurus helps us simplify, uncomplicate, get down to the basics, get real, get energetically steady. That doesn’t mean Taurus is burning though, it is ruled by Venus. Taurus helps us learn what feels good, what feels right for us, what feels soothing, what feels calming, what feels like worth our energy. It helps us say No, and say Yes, through the voice of bodies likes and dislikes while also helping us explore the more internal component of Self Worth.

Taurus helps us learn have to “have” things while also not placing all of our self worth in material items or accomplishments. Taurus teaches us how to want and how to need, and what is the balance between the two. Taurus teaches us how to enjoy what we have because our having comes from a place of abundant self esteem as opposing the having because we feel or believe there is something lacking that only “such and such” can provide.

So when the Full Moon conjures in the sign of Taurus we reflect upon what we have, what we need, what the current relationship is to our body, what our current relationship is to money, what our current relationship is to the concept of worth, what makes us feel safe, what makes us feel secure, what makes us feel abundant, what makes us feel calm, what makes us feel resourceful and capable, what helps us ground down into our bodies, what helps us respect the slow process of the body, what our money situation is like, and what our relationship is to the things we own (aka are we hoarding onto things out or fear and place too much power in their hands, or do we have the proper balance of love and nonattachment in regards to how wrapped up to our identity they are?).

What it comes down to with a Taurus Full Moon is the desire to feel at home as humans. As we know, being human can feel less than stable at time and so this Full Moon can provoke some volatility (especially emotionally) to see how we find that center of gravity and how uncomfortability can feel like the agitation of hot brand forcing us to MOVE. As we know, anger is often a catalyst about what is not working for us anymore. As we know Anger is one of the most uncomfortable feelings a human can endure. As we know Anger is one of the places the Taurus archetype can do damage, cause when it finally feels that level of “WTF” it can be ruthless and damaging.

This Full Moon at it’s best can help us reflect upon how well we are doing at finding the Earth beneath our feet when “life happens” and how to lose our shit about only what matters the most.

For many of us in this community, we are highly reactionary, empathic, sensitive, and very intuitive. We live in those upper chakras of limitlessness. It can be overwhelming to be so connected to these energy centers, a lot of anxiety can be found, a lot of questions, a lot of possibility, otherworldly awareness, and a lot of options.

There’s just A LOT. So for a great deal of us we would do well to engage with the Taurean archetype which will teach us how to calm our tits by identifying what is actually REAL, tangible, worth your attention, what you need, what you have, what areas of self assuredness you possess, and come back into the body. There’s a practice for when you feel you are panicking or having building anxiety and it is to start naming everything you see or are touching or are smelling or hearing in your environment so that you can get out of the headspace that is creating the panic and send signals to move back into the awareness of the body and how it feels. Often times when we start panicking or getting overwhelmed, even though we can feel it in our body…there is still a disconnect and there is the agony of actually wanting to leave where you are at, the sometimes “limited” feeling of being in a body and being human.

The Full Moon in Taurus desires for us to be IN THIS BITCH. To be in this body. To know what safety and security feels like. To know the meditative state that nature can provide for us when we tap into it and honor it through our senses and when we respect it. To respect however slow our body is needing to process. While also encouraging it to seek out what it requires to feel stronger and move through life with more ease.

Taurus doesn’t like hard. It doesn’t see the point in struggling. And it can be quite stubborn about that. Which is both good at bad. Since this is a Full Moon we being reminded on contrast and the spectrum. On the other side of the Zodiac we will have the Sun in Scorpio. Which, like Taurus, is a fixed sign. Which definitely means stubborn and resistant. But Scorpio is ironically the sign of evolution and transformation. Scorpio reminds us that when we allow the evolutionary process to come through that our metamorphosis is worth it for we are stronger. Scorpio reminds us that while change can be hard, it is also very rewarding. Scorpio likes to change if it means there is more intimacy with life and with self, if there is more depth, more meaning, more awareness, more spiritual awakenings, and more access to sexual energy. Taurus prefers to change when there will be access to more resources and more safety involved.

Both of these signs remind us of the power of stability and the power of alchemy. During this time of the Full Moon we are called to let go of needless change, struggle, and anxiety that leads to feelings of lack and paralyzation so that we may find simplicity, gravity, and centeredness so that we may actually feel abundant and clear because we know what we possess inwardly and outwardly and this clarity ironically leads to a safety that allows change to happening organically.

And so here we have another Full Moon lesson: We will witness how we force change or resist it and where the change is organic, whether in a slow sensuous style or as a byproduct of surprise.

I’m doing my best to keep this blog post short, sweet, concise and to the point because that is Taurus’s style (As a Scorpio/Virgo/Libra hybrid that results in being extra AF with all my planets in the 3rd house of writing and research it’s a bit hard to keep it simple!) but I will mention some of the aspects briefly happening along with this Full Moon for you will be able to see what I mean when I say this Full Moon really is about finding our stability within the feels and the changes of life.

The Full Moon in Taurus makes a sextile to Neptune in Pisces. Which is incredibly emotional. Neptune in Pisces brings on the feels, the sensitivity (especially to others), the limitlessness of spirituality, the empathy, the compassion, the imagination, and the escapism through what feels good. Sextiles are generally good aspects. They require some attention to make the most of so with this one, there’s a great opportunity for us to feels those feels, to become aware of them and not let ourselves be carried away or consumed by them. To allow ourselves to feel our emotional landscape and find our center within those waves. To come back into the body and onto the Earthly plane. To ground our energy. To find what we need to come back to safety. These may be physical things we need. These may be emotional needs. Or spiritual needs. All in an effort to find a truer alignment of safety as opposed to a false one, such as numbing ourselves with drugs or other substances or bailing…or yes even going into psychosis which is form of feeling safe in it’s own odd way. We can really learn to how we personally get safe experiencing our emotions, feelings, spirituality and our imagination. The other useful part of this is that Taurus being as hands on as it is, is very creative, it can manifest things, it can make things real for it loves enjoying the materials of human existence. Neptune in Pisces being so visual, creative, and lush with whispers coming from the intuitive realms and subconscious can bring forward the inspiration to create, to make, and get lost in conjuring things into actual existence. Taurus is very committed and will see things through when it’s motivated like this so this can be a welcome infusion into our lives. As I’ve said before, many of us here reading live in those upper hemispheres and can see all the creative possibilities but get tripped up in the how. And so this sextile can help us just do the how without complicating matters and commit to materializing these dreams we have in some way. It’s also so compassionate of an energy we may find ourselves being of service through these creations in some way. If we’ve been plodding away for some time, we may see the how fertile the grounds were for us by witnessing our material results right before us.

The Full Moon in Taurus and the Sun in Scorpio will make a square to the Goddess asteroid Ceres, which is in the sign of Leo. Ceres teaches us the lessons of loss and abundance and the cycles of life and nature. That even though it can feel awful to go through the different seasons of life and of the weather, it is an inevitable experience that will likely..never change. So even in that instability there IS actually stability. The square teaches us how to prepare by reminding us of what we need on these journey’s and by also challenging us to find our creativity and cleverness and use that as a resource. It may not be easy but recognizing your are capable, by using your talents will conjure up powerful resources of confidence and passion within you. And a sense of aliveness, in a whole body and spirit way.

There’s a strong presence which will show us how mystifying and spiritual the act of simplifying and grounding can be.

I will leave you with this bit I learned from a Matt Kahn video recently (The title is “The End of Inner Conflict” on Youtube). He says the key to ending inner conflict is by recognizing that your body is the one having this experience and the spiritual journey that your consciousness thinks it’s on, is not the case. Your consciousness is the guide to the bodies human process. Your body is the one on the spiritual journey. Watching this video can help you tap into he wisdom of Taurus, it directly reflected and validated something I said not too long ago in one of my posts: I am not here to be spiritual, for spirituality is a given. I am here to be HUMAN.

Happy Full Moon in Taurus!
