We are the Weirdos;
The Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius August 7th, 2017
An opening message to you for the Lunar Eclipse...
“I’ve never felt as though I didn’t belong, I just acted as though I did.” – Boy George.
Often times we have a deep inner knowing that so long as there is no harm being done to another, there is nothing wrong with who we are. And yet we will often behave in a manner as though it is, because society/culture will expect that of us if there is something to label "weird".
I become more and more convinced as time goes on that "weird" really just means the things other people are not yet fully awake to, yet have come into contact with in some medium but never expressed it out loud for themselves.
In the same breadth of this quote, there is a novelty in being the misfit, or the rebel to society. There's also a power to it too. But it's interesting to witness the comfort that is found in "not being like everyone else" that it's worth investigating whether or not this weirdo label is even true to who the person is..or who we are, or if it's just a way to receive some well needed and intended recognition (which is where the opposing sign to Aquarius comes in, Leo).
None of this is wrong.
Because it is all human. And all necessary explorations we take while coming back home.
This Aquarius Lunar Eclipse I challenge you to witness this within yourself.
I challenge you to witness and observe society and cultures.
Suspend judgement for the shape of curiosity.
Humans are the most peculiar of species.
Just went we think we can reduce them to a label, we find exceptions to the rule.
How do we make space for all of the exceptions? Can we? Is it possible?
These are all questions to think about about, feel about. And then... can you feel the energy moving in the direction of observation of all of this?
Of gaining a little distance?
Instead of taking everything so personally (which is valid) and getting wrapped up so closely to it...may you take a step back and detach a little bit to ask yourself better questions?
Can you find neutrality?
This is a gift of Aquarius energy, it is quite androgynous, which is a form of neutrality isn't it?
Now....Let's dive into the details of this lunation...
On August 7th at 2:11 pm EST we will experience the official opening of Eclipse season with the Lunar Eclipse Full Moon in Aquarius.
Eclipses are highly expressive influences in our lives. They typically don't behave in a subtle manner. Their purpose is to welcome in transformation. Even if things don't happen around you, you will feel them more drastically than a typical Moon within. The purpose is to be unignorable so that you may see with open eyes what needs integrating, and what needs releasing.
The Eclipses happen aprox every 6 months, so you may notice patterns where things seem really intense in life for the many of us and then settle down for the many of us. About 6 months ago it was February. Eclipse energies can take a little while to unfold depending, they say the effects can be seen for up to 3 months surrounding it.
February was a pretty intense time globally, but especially in the USA as it followed the presidential inauguration. And so now, there is a picking up of intensity yet again with the luminous ultra powerful Lunar Eclipse, so that we may see what the fuck is going on. We have had some time to process transitions from earlier this year and try to make sense of them.
If you've been feeling like something huge is shifting within the consciousness of the planet, then you would be correct in that assessment. Even though most of us are not exactly sure how it's going to land for us personally, we can't help but feel the undercurrent of electrical energy sparking off.
And that is so very Aquarius. Aquarius is collective consciousness. It's communities and networks. It's friendships that keep us connected far and wide. It's the rebel genius that sparks progress. It's the misfit that creates friction to facilitate change. The mad scientist. The crazed artist.
Aquarius sees the gifts of the individual that will contribute massively to humanity once that sovereignty is truly owned and expressed. Aquarius see's individual expression as a Soul responsibility here on Earth. It's that whole new-agey overused saying "You are unique and have something to give to others." Believe me, I want to gag right now having typed that LOL But nonetheless there is that essence here, even if people behave in similar patterns and there is a certain amount of human behavior we can predict, that doesn't mean there is no value provided by the individual moving within that current.
And yet we have a serious imbalance about the people we deem valuable within society. This Eclipse will shoot that imagine on the world wide movie screen for us.
There will be even more thoughts along the lines of "Hold up, what are we actually doing here?" It's like the veil becoming lifted to all the ways we've missed the point, the mark, the ways we may have caused more harm than good.
And this is the moment to course correct and pivot that. We are being given an opportunity to actually define "Liberty and Justice for All." That goes for each one of us on Earth.
In the middle of so many valid hurt feelings coming from so many different circles, this moment is a wake up call.
Of course I'm speaking about the higher octaves of Aquarius energy coming through for us, but there's always a possibility we will struggle with the lower ones which will sound ironic.
Aquarius is a Fixed, Masculine, Air sign...meaning it can be hella stubborn, opinionated, way too mental and smart, and way too "moving on". You can see how this can actually be a detriment if we get stuck here. There will be intolerance even within "open minded" communities or people. "I'm right and you're wrong" is still prevalent, isn't it?
We all have heard of the blind spots about "liberals" by now. And I hope all of us whom label ourselves as open minded, will lean into where that may not be the case.
It is truly my hope that this eclipse will support us to lean into our blindspots without compromising our integrity. Remember, we are probably never going to have this all figured out, this idealistic utopia we have in mind is something that evolves. Humans are experiencing a massive rise in awakening right now but that doesn't mean with a snap of a finger we are in paradise. This year is a "1" year of new beginnings so there's still a way to go and there will always be cycles.
Ponder this, you know how you have things that you wish for and then you get them only to find that maybe you can't handle them or hold space for them? And then you're like "OH SHIT" and go into a panic attack and have to step back in some way? Think about fame and celebrity. We've heard the stories of a sudden rise to fame, and then the sudden fall. Why is that? It's because there wasn't framework in place energetically speaking to hold all of that.
We are building the framework to hold this. If we all just transcended right now it probably would be chaos. We are working out the kinks left and right and that's better than just going haphazardly into a new world order, isn't it?
So between this Lunar Eclipse and the epic as fuck Solar Eclipse in Leo on Aug 21st, ask yourself what frameworks are becoming dismantled, what are you setting fire to and then what plans do you have for the next framework, if any? Or are you someone that actually needs to experiment for a period of time with no framework so that you know what chaos feels like? Believe me there are rock bottoms that are necessary. But even there, there can be framework to be found in the form of love infused minimal conditions for this period.
Circling back to the astrology of this Lunar Eclipse. This Eclipse sits in the same sign that the South Lunar Node is in right now too. A few months ago the Lunar Nodes shifted into Leo (North) and Aquarius (South) for these two signs are opposite each other. This shift ushered in a new year and a half of what we are learning to embrace and leave behind.
This Lunar Eclipse is reminding us attributes we need to leave behind: not making room for the individuals within the group - truly aka systems that don't work for people, faux open mindedness, hopes and dreams that are no longer relevant, friendships that are based on love, not sharing knowledge and knowing, hiding or diminishing our psychic abilities, faux science.
This Lunar Eclipse opposes the Sun and Mars which are conjunct in Leo which is still reminded us to embrace our autonomous expression in an unapologetic way yet still be deeply engaged with the collective awakening in a compassionate way. Those of us that feel we are more "woke" than the rest and feel the need to boast about it, will really need to cut it out because likely at this stage, it's not as effective as we are hoping. It may actually be creating some alienation, which is the opposite of what our intention is. YES, we need to actually be aware of the effects our actions have.
We ARE moving closer to the honoring of self while operating with so many others here on earth, even if it feels really odd right now...we ARE moving in that direction as wobbly as it may be. The main thing we are learning is just not to be digging our own grave out of a fixation on digging a really cool, really unique, beautiful hole to prove a point about how awesome or right or more awake we are. P.s I hope that that makes sense to someone reading this!
The Lunar Eclipse and Sun will both be making lovely aspects to Jupiter in Libra, which is really emphasizing this contrast of the self in relation to the other. So not only with this be an exploration of how we are showing up in mass communities, that sense of belonging or outcastness, but also within some of our closest relationships. We may have some success with those closer connections in releasing our resistance in making space to be ourselves within in them and letting them be their selves within them and this can then be used as examples and knowledge for the larger scale self. Jupiter expands everything it touches, and so this lovely aspect will likely give us a true shot at opening our hearts and our minds and provide some psychic flashes of insight about what we need to do as an individual to contribute.
I do sense this as a very awakening period, these next two weeks especially, we are going to want to align and make lots of internal declarations. But even leading up into early September we are going to be in transition and integration. Likely come September we are going to feel more clear about things.
Other things to keep in mind here: Uranus (eccentric and awakening) and Saturn (programming and responsibility bearing) are the rulers of Aquarius. Uranus just went Retro in Aries earlier this month, and will be Retro for the rest of the year. There is an internal exploration of that sense of self and identity. Being reminded of who we are. Awakening to that on deeper levels. Basically getting SHOOK. And then Saturn is going direct at the end of this month in Sagittarius, providing some forward movement in the area of foundations of faith being laid down. Mercury will also be retrograde through this month starting on Aug 12th in one of it's home signs of Virgo. Which will place am emphasis on the important of daily ritual and wellbeing in our lives. Mercury also happens to be the lower octave of Uranus, which means there is a lot of mental activity coming forward with an emphasis on exploring and refining what we are communicating to the world.
