On March 17th the Pisces New Moon swirls like liquid smoke into our psyches, willing us to dissolve the tension that inhabits precious spaces that are in need of a sweet release.
Pisces, as the last sign of the zodiac is symbolic of many things. Hellenistic Astrologer Demetra George describes Pisces as “the compassion and empathy that arise from the experience of oneness.” It’s the final “collective” archetype, the ultimate sense of spirituality and cosmic awareness we feel. Pisces reminds us of the cosmic web that invisibly connects us all. It we let it Pisces brings the medicine of knowing that our pain is their pain, our joy is their joy. There is no separation between souls across space and time.
Pisces reminds us that everything we see around us is born from some cosmic stardust. Pisces reminds us of the absolute wonderment of learning that we have actual atoms of gold and copper within the neurons of our brains so they can function. Pisces is the fascination of how science often confirms the absolute mystical nature of being alive and it drives us a little bonkers in the interim. It reminds us how the science of things is often our best educated guess from our present research and is mutable as more insight and evidence becomes known. Pisces reminds us of what is mind blowing.
Pisces reminds us of how small we are, and yet how vast we are too. Pisces reminds us that healing comes from many sources and is in constant motion, even as we sink deep into bouts of existential dread or see those we love (including ourselves) suffer. A healing can be accessed in each moment if we can find ways to release our resistance and trust that it is happening. It may not be apparent right away, it may take years for the words of it to take shape, it may takes months..weeks..days..hours..minutes..seconds. Pisces reminds us that time doesn’t really exist anyway, and there are other realities working on our behalf.
This is not a lunation where we try to make traditional concrete or logical sense of everything we’ve experienced because we fear such intangible magic but rather let the information we’ve manifested over the course of our lives encourage our imagination, our curiosity, our surrender, our wonderment, our awe, our mystical nature and sculpt it into the art of our own knowing.
Just look up the definitions for “inspire” and “inspiration”; to influence, move or guide by divine or supernatural inspiration. Inspiration; a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify them to receive and communicate sacred revelation. The action or power of moving intellect or emotions. The act of drawing in.
Inspiration is then a medium to Receive. Pisces New Moons are little gifts from the universal cycles where we allow ourselves to embrace this instead of always struggling against the flow of things. We are reminded there is an ultimate cosmic power of Receiving. Even as I write this blog post, I’ve been partaking in this energetic dance to allow myself to receive insight and knowings without rushing instead of fighting to hold onto something that you will love to read or something super profound at a certain time. It just wasn’t working to have that agenda. Every other sentence I’ve had to blow up the concept of such an agenda. And let myself write a bunch of different things until I flowed through one of the currents to carry this with me and to you. This is the ocean of Pisces, and I’m just here for the ride, the healing, the hydration.
It can feel pretty futile at this time to come up with the traditional forms of making plans and taking action, especially at this time. And that’s okay. May we break the spell that tells us everything in this world must be linear and immoveable. Very little about our existence is of a certain nature. From gender and sexuality being a spectrum, to the cycles of the economy, to the weather. It’s all a best prediction that can change course with one little shift in current, like water, like electricity.
Many of the disagreements we face today come from an inner battle of trusting our own personal sense of knowing in a society that thrives feeding upon that which we can explain. Much of the frustration I feel we experience today is because we’ve lost connection to our magic, to our wild, to our own spirits. It comes from thinking we’ve got something truly figured out and so therefore we hold onto it like a crutch and spit bullets to soothe the part of our personality that has to be right, has to prove the point, has to have the thing that we feel represents reality to grasp onto. Because for many people, it frightens them to know there’s so much mystery that slithers in between the energy waves that weave through life.
The less we fear this, the more we can make peace with this. The more magic we can infuse into the IVs of our life. The more we honor the process of healing in our societies, the more people will actually heal. The more healing we do, the more moving on and beyond can finally happen in the collective and individual levels. The more it can ripple through space and time.
It’s a time where we embrace the real time sci-fi movie we seem to be experiencing, and just as we allow the visual poetry of such cinema to awaken and inspire a deep inner stirring..we will allow what is right before us, right before our noses and aligned with that 3rd eye to do the same.
As I am writing this blog the Pisces moon is “void of course”, meaning it makes no aspects to other planets, it’s floating across the cosmos and sending us the message down below to trust our inner knowing and our inner connection to the all there is. Instead of looking to the outside for THE answer, we are reminded that at the end of it all the only true answers we find are the ones that are roused within, that anchor down like an unsinkable full body truth-gasm. Yes, we take into account the knowledge and wisdom we’ve acquired from our trials and tribulations, as humans here on Earth this is part of our experience. Our studies contain golden threads of information to be utilized as promised by the appearance of the great wounded healer Chiron conjunct this New Moon. But ultimately it’s the making of divine peace within the core of our energetic field that will bath us in the relief of knowing. “Knowing what?” you ask. Truly only you can know what shape that will take.
As I think about some of the happenings of the past couple of weeks I’ve noticed that, ironically, my intolerance for behavior that is cycling an energy of an intolerant, judgmental, un-compassionate and assumptive mindset has decreased. I know that it’s a mirror for me to look at where I hold resentfulness within, where I still judge, where I still assume. And where these behaviors are sometimes necessary because they draw boundaries and show us our edges (something that is one of the major lessons the Pisces archetype is here to learn and teach). Sometimes not tolerating something is an act of healing too. I know I’m being shown moments to laugh at how we all engage with the role of victim even if we swear we don’t because it’s hysterical how narrow sighted we can be. I know it’s all here to reveal to be the subtle programming that is still running inside of me and for me to be at ease with that for I KNOW I am dutifully committing to blowing that shit up.
I’m being shown how calling our inner victim home with love, with inquiry, AND with boundaries can create the very forces that will obliterate the collective systems of oppression that taint us all with a false sense of powerlessness. Feeling wronged is the often the beginning of that which inspires us to facilitate acts of healing. You can not bypass this innate human quality by pretending it doesn’t exist. Likewise, Pisces penchant for getting stuck within martyrdom and damsel/dude in distress shows us how this can perpetuate cycles of re-traumatization where wounds never heal and needing saving becomes an addiction. What do you think capitalism is? It’s partly the ultimate glamouring and feeding upon this collective pain.
Pisces can show us how to receive our power through accessing the ability of our inner psychic self. Psychic meaning; the faculties that are inexplicable by natural laws and that which relates to the soul. After all ..psychic comes from psyche which means “soul” in Greek.
Pisces can show us how to reclaim the nature of consumption for we begin to access our connection to whatever it is that you call Source. And this becomes the inner fulfillment and happiness that can only come from being fully connected and tapped into a Source that is beyond our physical experience, not reliant upon these transient and temporary hits of ecstasy. We are in a major collective experience of destroying that which keeps us in cycles of trauma or powerlessness, but we must first understand what those mean so we don’t repeat them. This is why everything is so chaotic on Earth.
Pisces ask that we trust, that we believe that we ARE cultivating what’s coming next. Pisces ask that we “see” beyond that which we can see.
Pisces asks that we have patience for the people that don’t quite get it yet what’s happening because they are experiencing the effects of being cut off from or are afraid of their intuitive resources. Pisces ask that we do the thankless job of THIS work because we know the entire collective will benefit in the long run and that is the only type of trickle down theory that actually works. Pisces asks that we smile and cackle “They don’t even know!”. Pisces asks that we love up the part of our ego that wants recognition for this work and to even find it funny that we think we are hot shit doing all this energy witch work. I ask that we don’t take it all to seriously, even though it kind of is, because that sort of seriousness can block what’s being received from fully landing.
Pisces medicine is anchored in the strength of what we Believe to be real for us, to be true for us. Belief is an underrated magical tool whose influence is found literally everywhere if you just dare to look and understand and be curious.
Everything you enjoy that makes your mind turn, stirs your heart, makes you cry or feel immense joy, arouses your soul, awakens a sense of passion; it’s all the invisible current that is representative of Pisces. It’s just that thing you can’t explain but is so real for you, it’s a treasure.
This Pisces New Moon sits with the Sun and Chiron, the Wounded Healer. Chiron is a planetary body that transits between Saturn and Uranus. Saturn is symbolic of what we already know and Uranus of that which we don’t yet know. Acting as a conduit for two worlds, at this New Moon we may exactly sense that: We are traveling within two realms…or more perhaps. Chiron is often described as the archetype that represents “wholistic understanding”. Chiron’s mythology tells the tale of the wounded Centaur whom endlessly acquires healing knowledge of all different kinds from many places…endlessly studying and sharing this knowledge with others as he went along but was ultimately unable to heal himself until he surrendered and let go of his immortality. Which ironically led to his immortality for it lives on in story and in the constellations (Sagittarius). Ultimately Chiron is another symbolic story of going within for our own intuitive guidance and sense of knowing, and then sharing this wisdom it with others as means to support and inspire on their own healing journey that also results in developing and finding their own inner knowledge and intuition. We learn the lesson of finding our edges around seeking answers when we enter territories where we become TOO reliant upon the endless information that is out there, from the gurus and the spiritual dogmatic principles for so much now at our fingertips thanks to the internet and we learn to COME BACK WITHIN for the ultimate answers that bring us a sense of wholeness.
As someone with a heavy Sagittarian energy in their 3rd house of information and research WITH Chiron in Gemini in my 9th (these are all the archetypes I described in the above paragraph) I feel very Chironic in nature. I THIRST for knowledge but I now ultimately understand and KNOW only within will I find the Truth I’ve been seeking for it’s ultimately MY decision and conclusion that matters.
The Pisces New Moon also makes supportive angles to expansive Jupiter Retrograde in Scorpio and transformative Pluto in Capricorn, bringing massive amounts of depth as it does heights. We truly traverse all the scores of the Universe and may even be excited to do it. The more testy angle is that of the square from this New Moon to Mars and Vesta which are in the last degrees of Sagittarius (in fact, Mars moves into Capricorn on this same day later on). This is an angle that for some of us may bring up some volatile swings of emotions and anger at all this existentialism and not having all the knowledge in the world. Be aware that this fire is possible among all this water too. We also have Neptune (Pisces modern ruler) still in Pisces AND Juno is also there too. Juno is the Goddess Asteroid of Marriage, Soul Mate connections is associated with making things work come hell or high water. As we end Pisces season I feel all this influence may move into a territory of feeling more connected to the marriage of our own spirit and divine self and the many places that will take us. It can also yet again teach us to recognize the divinity in all, especially within our romantic relationships and we are urged to YET AGAIN find the edges with that. Too much compassion for everyone’s divinity can lead to over-understanding, over tolerance of down right asshole behavior and getting into abusive and codependent dynamics, giving up our own emotional needs, and also even robbing others of a healing THEY need because we have not established relationship boundaries they and we need to learn or be aware of in order to create a truly fulfilling union. Just because I see the divinity in you, and you see it in my, doesn’t make me or you any less of a jerk or that we both get to just put up with it.
Caring for the collective doesn’t automatically mean we become doormats. Happy Healing, a doormat does not make. But CARING for the healing of the collective and doing what we can by actively engaging with the awareness of our programming and our ability to deprogram it will create those ripple effects and once more we will see the wild magic that has been waiting.
Take care at this New Moon to be with your inner landscape and it’s lush gifts.
