On May 29th our sky is graced with a vibrant and lively Full Moon in the sign of Sagittarius.
You’re probably more familiar with Sagittarius than you think; the spiritual industry is peppered with it.
Sagittarius is often touted as the Optimistic, Expansive, Travel Hungry, Adventurous, Guru, Teacher, Student, Explorer, and Spiritual Truth Seeker of the zodiac.
Images that represent this archetype are not hard to find; just go on Instagram or Pinterest and you’ll find the picture match real quick.
For me, much of the voice of the spiritual industry comes off as being distinctly Sagittarian in nature. This Jupiter ruled sign thrives on possibility and absorbing knowledge. So it’s just not that hard to find. And by now you’ve probably seen these key words all about as this Full Moon draws near.
So my question is:
How does it make you feel when you see such things on your screen?
Does it move your heart? Does it make you feel bad about yourself? Is it a combination of both?
I pose these questions because Sagittarius is also deeply resonant with mechanism of Dogma, it IS the sign of Religion after all. And therefore one of the shadows of Sag is to create a whole other system of Dogma in response to the rejection of another.
And this is how you end up with a very jaded spiritual industry on your hands, which is something many of us have become privy to over the past couple of years now.
Simply put, just because we are no longer in resonance with Christianity or other major religions, doesn’t mean we aren’t under the hold of a very linear and undoubtable masculine mechanism of spirituality.
I mean for a while there it was like you were looked at like the greatest sinner on the planet if you said the word “Fuck” or actually FELT anger, or god forbid gave a voice to your “low vibe” thoughts. If you weren’t “high vibrational” you weren’t in the club.
And for many of us at some point, we started to feel bad about even feeling bad because surely the Law of Attraction would come swooping out of the sky and bop us on the backside with loss and pain the moment we had a bad day and just couldn’t raise our frequency. The guilt and the shame piled on.
And this my friends, is a side effect of linear approaches to spirituality where the only goal is to “ascend” and be “fully enlightened”. To “heal” …but it HAS to look like this, otherwise you’re doing it wrong.
I don’t even feel like getting into the details of the ways I’ve been jaded by these new dogmatic approaches to spirituality and the years I’ve been spending deprogramming myself not only from my Catholic upbringing but not the Life Coaching industry (I’m not saying there aren’t AMAZING and RESPONSIBLE Coaches and Spiritual Leaders out there - I’m just saying there were/are a lot of blindspots).
But this is what I will say about the current axis of energy being illuminated through this Sagittarius/Gemini Full Moon, inspired by my friend Brenda J King in a collaborative group conversation:
We’ve associated the mechanism of Dogma with Confidence. We have been programmed to believe that Dogmatic systems are consistent, self assured and confident. That always abiding my the same unchanging beliefs or “truths” MUST mean confidence.
This is one of the current manifestations of Sagittarius in our world.
We’ve associated the mechanism of Nuance with Insecurity. We have been programmed to believe that Nuance is not to be trusted, it’s too changeable, too flexible, too flimsy. That leaving space for beliefs or truths to change MUST mean two-faced.
This is one of the current manifestations of Gemini.
I speak to these polarities today because yes, the Full Moon sits in Sagittarius but it faces the Sun in Gemini and it highlights these two…Truths.
See Sagittarius is always searching for the Truth that’s out there. It’s scours the corners of Earth, and if it could the entire Universe, searching for the ultimate Truths. Often adopting a certain belief system for a while and then growing impatient and weary and moving onto the next.
I am familiar with this process myself, I have many Natal planets in Sagittarius. I often am looking for the next thing to believe in.
But I’m learning the gifts Gemini has to offer me as well. After all my Chiron, the Wounded Healer (a Centaur - linked to the sign of Sagittarius) is in Gemini, and my 9th House - the house of Sag themes.
And Gemini is quick as silver in being able to coexist with the fact that many truths exists simultaneously, and we flutter back and forth between them at any given moment. Gemini, while considered a masculine sign, actually has many qualities much like the naturally feminine Moon’s phases…always changing day to day, always communicating with something new, always picking up on new vibrations.
So all this to say is we’ve been running on a very linear view of spirituality still, even though many of us have started to move away from the traditional monotheistic religions. We are still running the programming of “higher and higher, must follow the rules as so, or I must flog myself and ask for forgiveness if I don’t”. We think if we don’t meditate everyday we are being “bad”, if we don’t yoga everyday, the same, we don’t drink the nasty green juice we are immediately acidic.
So while we are making strides in our relationship to spirituality we are still struggling with the truth of nuance, because we are still aiming way high up into the sky and forgetting to come back down.
It’s not that we want to stop the traveling, the learning, the expansion, the cultural exchange. It’s just we want to really take a moment to settle in with ourselves and ask..What is it that we are chasing? What truth do we think is “out there”? What is it that is so uncomfortable about the nuance?
I hate to make this all about the distinct phase we are in of the Feminine Rising but to a certain degree, it is. We have a Grand Water Trine between Jupiter, Venus, and Neptune going on at this time as well, which is ultra femme.
We are still taking a dogmatic approach to spirituality and finding that for a great deal of us, it’s just not working either, something is missing, something doesn’t feel integrated and so we exhaust and torment ourselves by thinking we just aren’t doing it right or just one more retreat or just one more round of sessions with that coach…
We are still uncomfortable with the chaos, grey space of the Feminine. And at this time of this Full Moon we get to see the contrast I highlighted above, through the lens of these more traditionally “masculine” signs.
Undoubtably, so there can be a much needed integration.
But only you will have the understanding of what is calling for the integration. And many of you reading this, have done enough exploring on various levels to have some inkling of what that may be. I can’t tell you what it will be or look like. This is your discovery.
Sagittarius has so much to offer beyond the jet setting appeal, and the “mindset” shifts, the guru downloads, or the grand adventures across the globe. This is part of it but..
Sagittarius supports us to truly understand that developing our OWN belief system is the greatest healing one could ever gift to themselves.
Sag supports us to deprogram the dogma that has been conquering your life so that the coding of your own soul lights up. To aim in the direction of YOUR choosing and not some predetermined destination. To humble yourself through all you learn about others, with the sobering concept of not knowing shit, really. To connect back to the Earth in a more intimate manner. To build connections with communities and those with different lifestyles than you, not to take or appropriate from them, but to give to them and to receive soul lesson and inspiration. To make peace with the animal urges of the body so that the mind may be more free and integrated, and vice versa. To reconnect the mind, body and soul as allies. To develop peace with nuance. To understand how our perspective does shape how we see the world. How others perspectives shapes theirs. To know that our Truth is changeable as we are moveable. That living in our Truth, can often look different moment to moment. To help us take leaps of faith. To help us find the courage in our hearts to aim high. To help us cultivate the landscape of feeling that moves us to take this aim.
At this Full Moon in Sagittarius we reflect upon these themes. We celebrate the ways in which we’ve mastered our dogma. We celebrate the journeys we’ve taken. The education we’ve had. The Teachers we’ve met. The students we’ve become. We celebrate what we know, and what we don’t know.
As this Full Moon approaches I will be ending a 9 month training involving Psychic work that provided the space for me to do all of that and then some. And you best bet I will be celebrating the progress I’ve made in getting the Gurus and Spiritual Leaders out of my 7th Chakra (our space of knowledge) and getting MY OWN SPACE up there. It’s been one heck of a healing, and it’s not east when you LOVE your teacher haha.
May the Sagittarian Full Moon spew some real Truth from the cold mountain tops and not some superficial dogma from the sunset beach.
May the Full Moon in Sag bring peace to us in knowing that the search for the Truth is never over, because the search for our Self is continuous and evolving. Which is a good thing, because it means your well.. alive, doesn’t it?
—————➖A S T R O L O G Y OF THE F U L L M O O N➖ —————
As I’ve mentioned the Full Moon sits opposite the Sun in Gemini, as Full Moons normally do. There are other aspects I will explore below. Mercury happens to be moving into Gemini as well.
But the Sag Full Moon and Gemini Sun will also make a sextile and trine to Mars in Aquarius. The sextile here creates what could become an insatiable desire to take action on our visions. Mars in Aquarius is supercharged about the future. It wants it NOW. It’s impatient with how slow every one else seems to be progressing (We have collective planets Pluto, Saturn in earthy Capricorn and Uranus now in Taurus - another Earth sign - these move at their pace and strategically). So with all these air signs lit up through fire elements, it can get restless. But it does bring forward the opportunity to realize what it is the we finally need to do to break free, to get out there in the world, to do the damn thing, and to experience LIFE. It urges us to make our own conclusions about the time lines we are on, do want it to move faster or slower? Where? How? We may feel at least a little bit less inclined to give a shit about what any one thinks about the direction we feel called to go in. Which I know some of us really need right now in order to take the leap.
The Sag Full Moon will also trine Juno in Aries. Juno is the Goddess Asteroid of Marriage, Unity, Commitment and Power Dynamics in Relationships. She’s been here in Aries since late April and will stay here until July. Her influence in this sign highlights any type of “power over” dynamics in relationships. If we are not feeling like we are able to be ourselves in our one to one relationships, Juno will call that out to us and let us know how it is. She will call our bullshit out on us like “Hey stop fucking smothering your fire for someone else.” We can become hyper aware of whether or not our partners are helping us become more of ourselves or less of ourselves. Hint; it’s best that we are empowering each other to be more of ourselves. And this trine can make that desire for growth and expansion in partnership even more apparent to us. Are our partners our teachers? Are we teaching them? Are we going on the types of journeys with them our soul needs? Are we allowing space for our individual selves to grow while also making sure we are growing in similar directions? This Full Moon can either make it so that we just can no longer bear to not take action to make that happen or to move on from partnerships where we aren’t feeling like we can actually be and become our Truer selves.
The Full Moon will also make a trine to the North Node in Leo bringing forward a sense of destiny to this energy. We want to feel fully creative self expressed and it will be very hard to contain the places we want to roam, and stay on our littler corner of the actual or proverbial continent and spread out.
On this day Mercury also moves into Gemini for the next couple of weeks for a short stint in it’s home sign. It could be quite a stimulating transit. Often times I feel like Mercury in Gemini doesn’t need too much of an explanation because most everyone knows about Mercury, and it seems like we really run on this MO: stimulation, information, research, communicating, speaking, writing. We literally do all these things everyday in some capacity thanks to our modern lifestyles so this get a bit supercharged here. Good times to actually do research you’ve needed to do and find the things you’ve been searching for, bust through a bunch of writing or speaking, or do some traveling.
It’s a transit, coupled with Gemini Season in general that will have more of us becoming little etymologists in our lives and using the power of words to write our realities out. To realize how much what we say, how we say it and when we say DOES MATTER. We are literally rewriting our collective programming in our proverbial giant mother board computer.
All in all though, it’s a hecking good time to stop for a second and think about if you’re overloading your mind with useless information that leaves you running around in circles and massive indecision (and you’re using “all the info” as a way to hide from decision making). It’s a good time to release or at least address patterns of overthinking.
The last thing I want to talk about is the Grand Water Trine between Jupiter in Scorpio, Venus in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces. There will not be a lack of feeling with this Full Moon that’s for sure.
Jupiter, Sagittarius’s ruler, in Scorpio has been periodically making sure we are checking our self righteous behavior. Well, at least that is what I hope is happening! We’ve seen world renowned spiritual leaders get called out for shady behavior, with their dogma being called out publicly and we’ve seen the fall out from that. Likewise the leaders of the Law (another little area Sag likes to have a say in) are being called out for their sexual misconduct and or bribes they’ve made, which is so very Scorpio. Jupiter in Scorpio is like a big old flash light being shone down into the darkest bits of the collective and ourselves. The shadows need the stage right now, and they are getting it! No doubt this Full Moon in Sagittarius will reveal more; just this week Harvey Weinstein has finally been officially charged with various degrees of sexual assaults.
Last week Jupiter and Neptune made an exact aspect to each other, a trine. Which is often felt in quite lovely ways for a lot of people. For most, I heard of intense vivid night time dreams which is so Neptune, so this trend will likely continue with Venus in Cancer coming in to reactivate this still potent aspect. Jupiter, Neptune and Venus together is incredibly creative and receptive. Jupiter is known to bring about success and luck, Neptune absorbs energy, and Venus attracts and receives. You can see how this grand trine which will be very active over the weekend can facilitate an atmosphere worthy of just nice fucking things happening for us. Where something can just flow through and be fully magnetized to us.
I don’t know about you, but I need a little bit more ease in my life. If there’s any dogma I want to program in it’s that I don’t have to purposely make everything so damn difficult for myself, and I’m allowed to have more ease, it doesn’t make me lazy. My guess is, you probably need a bit of that too.
Jupiter and Venus together can definitely make nice for business, we just have to be careful we aren’t going too far up into the clouds and not thinking with our responsibility hats on. Neptune can create some brain fog when factored into this.
There will likely also be the desire for romance, love, intimacy, comfort, safety and security within our intimate partnerships if we have them. The desire to have a well rounded love dynamic comes through very strong.
Be aware that you will be extra sensitive around this time if you’re an empath, intuitive, or psychic witch. The absorption of energy can come through more prominently. As I said, Venus receives energy and Neptune/Pisces is like a sponge. Cancer can protect a bit with it’s shell but the inside is very tender so there remains the possibility of feelings getting hurt, or wounds feeling more bruised than usual.
So please mind your body and take care of it intently during this Full Moon week. Water, Baths, Incense Clearings, exercising any restless energy etc. All on par for the course.
But there lies the potential for a great spiritual healing, one that is feminine in mechanism. Mother healings, Ancestral healings, Sexual Healings…all fall in the realm at this time.
All in all we have another dynamic Full Moon this week, followed with some potent astrology. It seems like there’s always something going on these days, but we are in a massive collective episode of healing that needs as much archetypal awareness and guidance as possible.
May the Full Moon in Sagittarius bring you one step closer to the Truths within you.
May you travel the places your heart desires.
May you learn from the wisest.
May you learn from yourself.
May you love the journey.
May you take the leap of faith and trust the fall.
